"Cognition No.5" 2015
Size: 40 H x 30 W
Painting: Acrylic and Gesso on Canvas.
Acrylic on canvas. This work is part of a series investigating the juxtaposition between the cognitive mind and the desensitization of urban life. The painting style is inspired by the mosaic expressionist era characteristic of Montreal "Automatiste" movement of the 1950's.
This piece was inspired by the vibrant Montreal lifestyle. It depicts summer activity in the Chinatown area.
There's a voyeuristic approach while capturing the subject matter. The subjects in the work are non-figurative while maintaining a notion of structure in its form.
This piece investigates the juxtaposition between the organic routine of people's livelihood in the industrialization of urban infrastructure.
Acrylic paint is applied as the medium due to its rapid drying enabling the layering of forms while ideas are in their prime.
